Pastoral Planning Final Plan

On Tuesday, March 15, 2016 a meeting was held in the St. Leo Social Hall to share with parents the plan to move forward with becoming part of the Elk County Catholic School System. Mr. Sam MacDonald, President of ECCSS, has provided the document he referenced at the meeting for parents and families to look over. Please take some time to look over the document which will help explain what a classical curriculum looks like. The Diocese of Erie unveiled the final portion of Building in Truth and Love, the highly anticipated final plan for Catholic schools throughout the 13 county Diocese of Erie. On Thursday, February 18th, the plan for the schools outside of Erie was unveiled, including our school, Saint Leo's. We have all waited in eager anticipation in regards to the future of our 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The preliminary plan called for the closing of those grades. We are thrilled to announce that our upper grades will remain open and we will continue as a Pre K through 8 building. We thank everyone for their prayers and petitions throughout these last few months. The parents, faculty and alumni of Saint Leo school are to be commended. You are awesome!

Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year we will become part of the Elk County Catholic School System (ECCSS). We will be considered a satellite campus of ECCSS; we will no longer be considered a parish school. Our teachers as well as myself will work with the president of the ECCSS, Sam MacDonald, to continue the fine tradition of Catholic education that has always made Saint Leo's such a great school. We look forward to this partnership and the great opportunities we will be able to offer our students in the future. We ask for your patience throughout the next few months as we work through the process of becoming part of the ECC system. We will try and answer all questions to the best of our ability. We also look forward to receiving input from all of you as well.

God bless you for your continued support. Please keep us in your prayers and most of all, keep up the positive attitude. With all of us working together, Saint Leo's will remain strong and vibrant for at least another 100 years!

Mary A. Detwiler
Proud Principal, SLS
